| Car Rental & the Environment – A Review |
| by Admin on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 |
With the environment such a hot topic around the world and especially in the transport industry, there are companies that are taking on new environmentally friendly technology. Hybrid cars and ever increasingly fuel efficient diesel cars are becoming more available to mainstream motorists. I used to work for a corporate travel company and many of the major corporations were requesting the inclusion of Hybrid cars in their contracts.
The question arises when people travel and want to maintain their commitment to the green cause. Car Rental companies will be the ones providing these vehicles... or will they?
First off the rank is Avis Rental Cars.
In Australia, the group L car will give you a Toyota Hybrid. This car is the favorite for the car rental companies due to it being built by Toyota.
In the UK, there doesn't appear to be any green cars, although there may be diesel cars on fleet, Avis don't make them easy to find.
In the USA, like Australia, the Toyota Hybrid under group XG is available.
Second off the cab rank is Hertz Rental Cars.
In Australia, like Avis, the Toyota Hybrid is the car of choice. Book a group G and you will get this car.
In the UK, Hertz has a range of fuel efficient diesels on fleet but no hybrids. This seems to be a common factor in the UK. Being an expat, I know that Toyota car prices in the UK are reasonably expensive compared to other European manufactured vehicles.
In the USA, Hertz has a range of Hybrids, although on some of the cars, I couldn't tell if they were Hybrid or not.
Now, all credit to Hertz as they do promote their green cars as part of their Green Fleet. Avis don't appear to market their green cars in any way, which is a shame.
Third on the cab rank is Euro car Rental Cars.
Again, unlike Hertz, they appear not to promote their green fleet. Looking at their Australia Fleet guide, they have the regular passenger vehicles such as Small, Medium, Large, Prestige, Minivans, Sport, 4WD. Euro car list the green car as part of their regular fleet, and however, it does have its unique identifier (IHAR) in Australia.
The Environment is a marketers dream and I do think that some of the car rental companies have missed the boat so far. Hopefully their marketing departments will wake up and smell the cleaner air.

| Hero Honda Bikes – The Favorite Two Wheelers of Indians |
| by Admin on Saturday, April 17, 2010 |
Hero Honda has been instrumental in the manufacturing business of motor cycles in India for several years & its bikes in different models have become a hit among Indians. The company is the result of a partnership between the Japanese auto expert Honda & the Indian auto maker Hero Group of India. As of now the company has lived to its image of the largest bike manufacturer in the world. It is also considered the most favorite two wheelers company in India.
Hero Honda was established in 1984. The company started to roll out vehicles and soon the products of the company became popular with Indian buyers due to their fuel efficiency and dependability. Splendor has been the best seller-bike, which sells more than 1 million bikes a year.
As of now the company Hero Honda has 3 manufacturing plants. Two are based at Dharuhera and Gurgaon in Haryana, while the third is at Haridwar in Uttarakhand. The company brings out around 39 lakh bikes annually. The company has a sales and service network of more than 3,000 dealerships and service stations in the country.
After the opening of the Indian economy, the auto industry in India has been growing fast. All major companies like Toyota, Ford, Honda, BMW, Mercedes etc are now operating in the Indian car market. With the growing sales of cars, even bike sales have gone up significantly. Many people used to think that bike sales will get influenced by the large number of sales of cars in India. However, they all have been proved wrong as bikes are still selling in large numbers. The middle class Indians still prefer a mean of commuting which is both economical and dependable. Bikes are good for the Indian market as they are cheaper to buy and less expensive to maintain.
The limited economy of India did not allow a large number of bike manufacturers to invest in the market & it may turn out to be one of the major reasons behind the success of Hero Honda. In earlier times there was no or very little competition in automotive bike industry. People had to wait a long period for purchasing scooters from another famous Indian brand i.e. Baja. Even some of the other global bike making companies like Escort & Royal Enfield made customers to wait for a period longer than the usual time. Later the famous bike company of Hero Honda increased its production & expanded its selling point to provide consumers with an easy access to sophisticated bike models & this led to the amazing success of Hero Honda bikes.

| Valuable Car Show Tips – Things to Look for at Car Shows |
| by Admin on Saturday, April 3, 2010 |
|
If you are a car manufacturer or dealer & want to showcase your vehicles then car show will give you the platform. But mere taking part in a car show won’t bring you success until unless you present yourself well before visitors. For that you will have to learn what the judges mostly look for in the car shows. Since different categories are there in car shows & included cars are placed under a particular category, you will have to take care of the criteria mentioned for the category you want your vehicle to get included in. A lot many things are discussed here which judges mostly look for in car shows. By focusing on those you can certainly achieve success in these shows.
1. Spotless Cars
Regardless of the category your car is placed in, your car should be absolutely clean and spotless. There should be no visible dirt or mud on the outside of the car and the interior should be immaculate. You should spend some time after arriving at the car show to do some shining, polishing, and touch up work.
2. New Tires
Your tires are also an important consideration. Rolling up with tires with a year's worth of wear and tear is not going to help your chances. The judges are looking at how you maintain your vehicle. Your tires should be new, with no dirt or mud, and clean.
3. Scratch-Free
This may seem obvious, but you'd be surprised how many cars you will see with scratches and other nicks and dings that can easily be repaired. Any imperfections like this draw the judge's attention away from the rest of your car and can easily lead to you not showing well.
4. Custom Paint-Job
If you really want your car to win over the judges, you may want to give it a finishing touch with custom paint of colors like hot pink or bright yellow that can easily make your car distinct or you can try out something more fade prepared from a combination of different shades. Even hundreds of cars with the same color as that of yours have been able to draw the attention of judges not for once but many a times. Judges often look for innovative style & creativity.
Making an impression on judges at car shows is not that easy enough but by following the above given tips you can certainly think of impressing the judges at your next car show.

| Popular Car Shows Where Finding Slender Cars won’t be a Problem |
| by Admin on Saturday, April 3, 2010 |
|
The car shows are excellent events where attractive cars are showcased with an objective to attract potential buyers. That’s why car show organizers always focus on making it fascinating for visitors so that it could easily captivate them. All the latest automobile vehicles with appealing design & driving features are included in a car show so as to woo back the visitors. When visitors come across a car model with no engine, a vehicle with electric motors controlled rear wheels or vehicles having wheels run by a cell they may change their mind & seriously want to buy one. It will lead to the double profit of advertisement of the car & its ultimate selling. So buyers should not miss out the car show where plenty of affordable & appealing cars would be available.
An interesting show was one from the 2009 Hyundai Nuvis Concept from the New York automobile show, which was clear indication that Mazda might be facing competition in their fluid dynamics technology. According to the manufacturers, this model was made for the users of the car, claiming that there are no lines that are stagnant in this car. It is fitted with a 30 kilo watts motor that is electric. The motors, when used in conjunction with the installed six speed automatic transmission give it its remarkable speed.
Apart from that, its gasoline engine is one to desire. The power it produces is out of this world, which in turn goes a long way in giving this car model fast speed. It is fitted with a cargo floor which also acts as a mount for its battery which is of the Lithium-polymer king. This battery operates using 270 volts which is ideal for such a product.
The New York show stopper was the legacy sedan Subaru. Its interior is big enough as compared to others of its kind. It is also much taller and these two features can come in handy especially when one wants to carry luggage. It is engineered to have a wheelbase that is long which is also an advantage to the user. It has a great engine that powers it incredibly to deliver high speed driving.
The Frankfurt car show was another popular show that had showcased several sleek models of automobile vehicles. Several well known & best car models ranging from jaguar XJ car model and the Moserati GranCabrio to BMW active hybrids found place in it. The four-door Aston Martin was the latest addition to the displayed car models. This car model is fitted with specially engineered twelve cylinders that help to drive the rear wheels. So many advance car models were showcased in this car show that would hardly described here.

| Automotive News That Really Make Sense |
| by Admin on Friday, April 2, 2010 |
|
The average person usually don’t show interest in automotive industry related news. But auto news gives us an opportunity to learn a lot of useful information. It may include finding answer to interesting queries like why it is always not possible for us to find the right car at dealers. Many automotive companies use car dealers to collect information about their preference & requirements. While this strategy seems to have logical base but in most cases it does not produce expected result.
It is not actually the dealers that are making the auto news most of the time; it's the automakers themselves. They may not ship what has been requested by the dealers, instead shipping the vehicle they want. This leaves the dealers with an inventory that isn't what they requested or what their customers want.
This unfortunate circumstance leaves the dealer with the choice of resorting to hard sell tactics or letting the vehicles sit around forever. Those hard to sell cars can continue to sit for a while, but ultimately they will create problems for the dealer, as no customer may really want to buy them. You either hope they have the vehicle you want or sometimes settling on another choice.
Continued build up of those vehicles can leave the dealer with absolutely no cars that will fit their customers' needs or wants. You will definitely want to figure this in when you head into that local dealership and don't see a car you want.
Those hard to sell vehicles that continue to sit around are called a "brown banana", because it's become overripe and the value has been going down as it continues to sit around. At this point what can a dealer really do about that problem?
Giving away the cars free, while it might thrill customers, is something that isn't going to happen. Even when they knock off a lot of money on the price, they are hurting themselves as dealerships are held to making a certain amount of profit. If they don't make that amount of profit, they could be shut down.
Of course dealers could head back to the days when hard sells were being used all the time. However, that isn't going to make a customer happy in any way. Many people hated to see a salesperson walking up them in those days.
You've probably had heard of the popular auto news that resulted in the dumping of a lot of old cars. Car buyers would insist on looking at the gathered old cars to properly value them for trade-in, however, once those chances were gone it require some serious persuasion for them to come & see your cars so that you can sell them.
The auto news had drawn the similar instances from the past which gave consumers a bad impression. Some of the dealers won’t give up until buyers agree to the sale. It would very often result in a car deal that consumers have never wanted for & pay a huge amount of money for it.
